The Mercado de Motores is a blended farmers market and train museum. This market is usually held every first weekend of the month up until November. This year they have rescheduled it to be the second weekend and it is a must go experience. The entrance is free but it's suggested that you register your attendance online.

The market is held at a unique location: the Museo del Ferrocarril de Madrid, where the old train station of Delicias once stood. If you have kids or a deep fascination for vintage trains and locomotives I highly recommend you visit the Mercado de Motores. You can enter inside some of the trains and look inside at some of the coolest models from the 70's. For the kiddos they have railroad path outside where they can ride a miniature train around the station.
Another great part about the market is that you can purchase artisanal products such as jewelry, bags, clothes, and even food. Some food products like the cheese and honey come from local farms while some cured meats come from Leon, a region renowned for producing the finest quality meats. If you don't believe me try for yourself; it is a modern Costco with samples everywhere.

One more fantastic aspect of this market is the presence of food trucks and street vendors behind the museum. There is a wide variety of cuisines available, creating a vibrant and lively atmosphere.
Around the museum towards the entrance they have many people selling antique merchandise. They sell old lamps, phones, coats, comic books, and so much more. There is something for everyone.
Lastly, I want to mention the live concerts that took place in the front pavilion. This past Saturday featured bagpipe players and dancers, delivering a truly mesmerizing performance. Witnessing a different music genre was a remarkable experience, and the audience, including myself, was thoroughly impressed by the show.
If you missed the Mercado de Motores this weekend no worries! It will be back in November with new vendors, food trucks, and concerts. Just don't forget to register online and show up early to have time to do all the activities.
