Inclan Brutal is more than just a bar serving excellent food by Joaquin Serrano Jimenez; it aims to highlight the life and writing style of Ramón María del Valle-Inclán, a celebrated Spanish novelist. The decor of Inclan Brutal features "brutal"- disruptive elements that reflect Valle-Inclán's writing, which frequently portrayed the conflict between rational and irrational themes. Additionally, the bar collaborates with José Piñero, the crockery architect for numerous Michelin-starred chefs.
My experience at this bar started at dinner time ordering the "Menu Degustacion" aka the "tasting" menu. Every detail about this menu told a story and the crockery was so fun and playful. For instance the cutlery is painted in rainbow chrome and the plate itself is stamped with the renowned Spanish novelist.

The menu offered a welcome cocktail, aperitif, entree, main dish, and dessert for 55 euros. Below I will show you what I mean when I say that every dish was unique and experimentally fun. The pictures below show two fish aperitifs: tuna tataki and zamburriñas. As for the cocktails here you will see one of Jose Piñero's iconic cocktail cup: the Joker.
For the entree and main plates, we received: Bao's on the belly of a panda, roast pork on a Jamón leg, and shareable creamy rice on a the back of a duck bowl.
Inclan Brutal is a bar where creativity thrives, featuring wall decor that is floral, majestic, and aristocratic. The plates, while whimsical and slightly random, the eating experience is enjoyable- especially among good company.
